HE was a nominee for young player of the year in England just a few months ago.
And some soccer pundits in the English press reckon he’s work €7M if another club wanted to take his services from Everton.
But Killybegs lad Seamus Coleman didn’t even make the bench at Lansdowne Road for the play-off clash with Estonia.
Some pundits here – including Eamonn Dunphy – are asking the question: “Does Giovanni Trapattoni want skillful players in his particular system of play?”
Johnny Giles and Liam Brady appeared to agree on RTE’s coverage of the match.
Seamus himself is too honest to talk about it all.
But his delight at the team’s qualification for Euro 2012 must be tinged with worry when he didn’t make the bench for the Estonia games.
Let’s hope Trap follows Mr Dunphy’s advice…and makes sure he’s on the plane to eastern Europe next year.
