GAA NOTES: NAOMH BRID

There was good news for both our reserve and senior teams at the weekend at home to St.Nauls.

In the first game the reserves took the fight to their opponents early on an a Dermot McCafferty goal followed by good points from Mickey Quinn and Gavin Gallagher helped them into a strong lead at half time.

The lads furthered their lead in the opening stages of the second half and good defensive work helped them stay ahead. A second goal from Dermot McCafferty helped seal the victory in the closing minutes.

Final Score Naomh Brid 2-13 St.Nauls 0-12.

In the second game of the day our seniors managed to overcome the same opponents. A Pauric McDaid goal midway through the first half helped the boys to a 1-1 to 0-1 lead but St.Nauls scored an unanswered 1-3 before half time to leave them leading 1-4 to 1-1 at half time.

In the second half the boys eased their way back into it but St.Nauls kept the 3 point margin before David Walsh drove home Naomh Brid 2nd goal to leave the sides level. Points from Pete Walsh, Dermot Langan and Shane Walsh helped the boys into a 3 point lead and with the defence in particular Sam Burgess, Gary McCafferty and Sean Gormley putting in trojan work to stop the St.Nauls threat they managed to hold out for a 2-8 to 1-8 victory. This win now leaves them in 2nd place and in contention for a promotion playoff depending on how other results go.

The club would like to thank Pat and Ann Gillespie of The Bank Bar, Donegal Town for the sponsorship of new kit bags. It is very much appreciated.

The club are hosting a Fashion Show this Saturday night in the Central Hotel. Tickets cost €10 and doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. Local retails will have their best fashions on show on the night.

Anyone with a fashion show ticket will receive a 10% discount on presentation of the ticket at their chosen outlet between 28th November and 3rd December. The official release of the long awaited Naomh Brid Calender for 2012 will also be launched on the night with pictures of people as you’ve never seen them before.

It promises to be a night not to be missed and with many surprises in store be sure and get your tickets. Anyone in need of tickets can contact Shane Walsh via text or call on 0876471982.
