PREPARATIONS are at an advanced stage for the annual turkey trot- fun run which takes place on Sunday, December 4 at 11.15.
This is one of the highlights of the local calendar and is a great way for both serious athletes and fun runners- walkers to win a nice pre-Christmas prize.
There will be a Goal Mile at the Danny McDaid Track on Thursday, December 15 from 6- 8pm. This has been a well supported local event and anyone who fancies a walk or run for one mile to raise money for a very worthy charity are asked to come along on the night. Your support would be appreciated.
The club will host the annual New Year race- fun run on Sunday, January 8, at 11.15 a.m. Further details will be available in the coming weeks.
On the racing front Letterkenny’s Patrick Brennan was the first Donegal man across the line in the Seeley Cup 10K road race in Belfast on Saturday. The North West 10k champion finished 5th in a time of 31.09  to show he remains one the top runners at this distance in the country.
Over 20 athletes from LAC made the trip for the highly popular race around Ormeau Park. The second Letterkenny man home was former Irish marathon champion, Gary Crossan (34.49) to finish in 39th while he was followed by the ever consistent, Kevin Ferry (42) in 34.54.
The fourth Letterkenny man home was Garvan Walker (50th– 35.15) followed by Paul McGlinchey (62nd– 35.54). Others to have impressive times on the day included Humphry Murphy (81st– 37.00), John Daly (92nd– 37.26), Marcus McClintock (104- 38.05), Aidan McKenna (136th– 38.59), Adrian Callaghan (176-39.53) Noreen McGettigan (187th-40.09), the improving Padraig Friel (198-40.24).
After a lengthy lay off due to injury Ciaran O’Donnell ran a strong race and finished (202nd– 40.27). It is good to see Ciaran back in the mix again after a very troublesome knee injury.
Glen Duncan is continuing to improve and finished in a time of 42.17 (258th) followed by; Marie Boyle (294- 43.10) Gerard Mullan (44.00), Richard Raymond (44.42), Garvan McCloskey (44.47) Irene McFadden (44.47) andMargaret Shiels (47.50) who is running better by the week.
