DDTV: MEET SOME OF DONEGAL’S LEGENDARY FRONTIERSMEN

County Donegal…..the final frontier, a wild, wonderful and woolly place indeed. Like the tourist slogan says: ‘Up Here It’s Different’.

Frontiersmen is a film that explores the lives of those Donegal folk living on the fringes of what some might consider ‘conventional’ employment, the rugged individualists who never experienced the madnesses of The Celtic Tiger – they were too busy doing things their way. From a mobile barber to a budding soul sensation, their tales are utterly unique.

These are the people ploughing their own unique furrows in life, providing unique and essential services to the people of Ireland, fighting the good fight – that of the sole trader, the noble entrepreneur.

At a time when the nation is a state of utter disarray, the plight of the Donegal Frontiersman is a noble and heroic one indeed… These are their stories. The Frontiersmen are Arsene, Paddy Toye, Liam Grier, Alphie McCollum, Arsene, Pat Gillespie, Eamon Friel and James McDaid.

Created for the Sharing Stories project, Frontiersmen has a free screening at Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny on December 1st at 6.30PM.
