INSURANCE ‘AGENTS’ ACCUSED OF BEING ‘WORSE THAN THE ROBBERS’

A CO DONEGAL man whose house was robbed by thieves said the insurance company who came to his home to investigate his claim was “worse” than the people who robbed him.

The 52-year-old victim told donegaldaily.com that the assessor from a major insurance company “more or less accused me of being a liar.”

And he added: “It was worse than the robbery. I was made to feel guilty.”

The increasing number of victims of burglary and robbery right across Co Donegal are being told to take legal advice BEFORE calling insurance companies to make claims after robberies.

The victim told donegaldaily.com: “I’m at the end of my tether. I was the victim of a crime but the insurance company is turning me into a victim for a second time.

“I’m sorry that I ever even took out insurance. It’s a disgrace what is happening. You pay your premium and then you are, more or less, accused of making things up.

“I’ve learned my lesson contents insurance as well. Keep receipts for everything you buy, absolutely everything.

“My advice for anyone who is robbed is to call their lawyer right away. Get legal advice before you get cleaned out for a second time.”
