AFTER the record turnout for the Turkey Trot last weekend the action on the senior front switches to the National Novice Championship’s in The Curragh, Co Kildare on Sunday.

Club captain, Aidan McKenna along with Vice-Captains, Barry Meehan and Niamh McDaid, are busy getting their squads organised. For further details contact Aidan at (086-22151630)

The club was delighted with the record turnout for the Annual 5k Turkey Trot on Sunday

Two LAC athletes- Marty Gormley and Ruth McCrudden had the distinction of being exact in their predictions. Marty ran 17.56 while ever improving Ruth clocked 27.30. The other winners of the turkeys were Phil Boyle (21.56), Garvan McCloskey (19.45), Hugh O’Donnell (21.04), Darren Wallace (19.48), Ben George (18.56), Ciaran O’Donnell (18.59), Pauric Kelly (19.12) , Hugh Coll (18.42) and Kevin Connolly (18.22).

For the record, LAC’s Patrick Brennan, was the first man over the line in a time of 15.13 followed by Paddy Moore (16.03), Neil Gibbons (16.14), Darren McGlinchey (16.21) and Garvan Walker (16.22).

“The race was a fantastic success and we’re delighted with the record turnout,”race organiser, Brendan McDaid said.

Last year 97 athletes participated in the race-fun run and 70 the year before so the turnout of 137, so it was a great credit to the organising committee to have such a field.

The next date for the local calendar will be the Goal Mile charity run at the Danny McDaid Track on Thursday, December 15 from 6- 8pm. This has been a well supported local event over the years and anyone who fancies a walk or run for one mile to raise money for a very worthy charity are asked to come along on the night. I

All you have to do is to turn up on the night, walk, run, crawl the Mile and make a donation to GOAL. Some participants make a personal donation while others seek sponsorship from friends and colleagues; it’s entirely up to you. The GOAL Mile is a great opportunity to do something. Contact Brendan Mc Daid – 0868113947 or herbielac@gmail.com

The club is finalising plans to host the annual New Year race- fun run on Sunday, January 8, at 11.15 a.m. Further details will be available in the coming weeks.

The numbers drawn in the Lettereknny AC weekly lotto were 2, 6, 15 and 16. There were three match three winners: Lavinia Ward, Portsalon, Rachel Akkoc and Kenny Chambers. The jackpot on Saturday night in The Glencar Inn is €940.
