McSHEA: ‘JIM WAS EXTREME IN FIRING CASSIDY’

FORMER Donegal county star Pauric McShea has said he is disappointed at how the Kevin Cassidy controversy has been handled.

McShea, who played in Donegal’s Ulster title-winning side in 1972, says the action taken by manager Jim McGuinness over comments Cassidy made in a book was over the top.

“I think the action taken by Jim was a little extreme,” said the former county defender.

“Kevin was probably a little naive in his comments but I don’t think they should have led to him being discarded.”

It’s the latest comment in a row that just won’t go away.

Last week Cassidy sent a message on Twitter which appeared to be a dig at county captain Michael Murphy after he had spoke out to defend McGuinness.
