Duck Race -The 2nd running of the Urris Rubber Duck Race took place on a stormy but surprisingly dry St Stephen’s Day at Binion Bridge. The first part of proceedings was the judging of the Best Dressed Duck competition which was again a tough one for the judges to call. After much consideration it was decided that the Buddy the Elf duck owned by Mary Kate Kelly was the best of the contenders and then all eyes switched to the main event.
First past the post was the duck owned by Felicity Downes, Tullagh; Felicity’s duck was closely followed by the duck owned by Sean Toland and third home was the duck owned by Michelle Carthy. The ‘race’ for last duck home was eventually claimed by Orla Lagan’s duck.Urris GAA Club would like to congratulate all the winners on the day; would like to thank everyone who bought ducks for the race, especially those who took the time to decorate and dress them up for the day; the club would also like to thank everyone who helped out in anyway with the race, from those that sold ducks to those that helped with the race itself and anyone who helped with the setup and clean up of the course on the day.
