Giovanni Trapattoni and Shay Given could be just some of the names coming to Donegal after the Football Association of Ireland chose to hold its AGM here this year.

The FAI have yet to officially make an announcement but Donegaldaily.com understands the AGM will take place in Letterkenny in July.

More than 200 delegates from around the country are due in the Cathedral Town for the week-long celebration of soccer.

As well as the AGM, there will be many local events to coincide with the meeting including soccer schools and seminars.

It is also understood that some of Donegal’s best-known soccer stars including Shay Given and Seamus Coleman will take part in the celebrations.

An FAI insider revealed “Donegal has been chosen and an official announcement will be made in the near future.

“Donegal and Letterkenny has a proud tradition of soccer between Finn Harps and the many junior teams across the county down through the years.

“CEO John Delaney has a real soft spot for Co Donegal and was there recently opening the new stand for Letterkenny Rovers.

“It will give soccer in Donegal a great lift,” said the source.
