GOLF: PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NOTES

Over the Christmas holiday period Portsalon golf club staged a number of open competitions and due to the adverse  weather conditions golfers had not an opportunity to try out their new golf equipment supplied as presents.

The weather conditions was reflected in the scoring. The results were as follows; Monday 26th December 2011, Results: Winner: Shaun Shields (13) P/S 36 points  Runner Up: Brendan Roache (13) L/K 31points  Gross: Michael Collum (7) L/K 21points  *CSS 33pts

Tuesday 27th December 2011,  Winner: Sean Barrett (13) P/S 35 points Runner Up: Cathal Toland (12) P/S 34 points  BOT Gross: Stephen Connolly (5) P/S 28 Gross Third: Ronan McAteer (5) Concrawood 34points Visitor: Michael Boyd (17) L/K 30 points  BOT *CSS  33points   Saturday 31st December Winner Shaun Kelly (8) 37points  B.O.T Runner Up  Shaun McCormack (18) 37 points Gross Conor Connolly (4) 31 points 3rd  Ray Kennedy (28) 36 points Visitor  Ronan McAteer  Concrawood 32 points  CSS Home 34 points CSS Away R/O 34 points Sunday 1st January 2012, Results: Winner: Kevin Mc Fadden (21) P/S 37points  BOT Runner Up: Kevin Mc Gonagle (6) P/S 37 points  Gross: Johnny Shields (4) P/S 31 points Gross Third: Cathal Toland (12) 36 points  BOT *CSS 35 points Monday 2nd January the winner was Stephen Connolly (6) 39 points 2nd D P Logue (6) 36 points Gross Ronan Mc Ateer Concrawood 21 points

 

 

Events

On Saturday 7th January there is an open gents competition and on Sunday 8th a members competition. On Wednesday 11th there is an open gents competition.

 

Sympathy

The Captain Donal Callaghan and the members of Portssalon golf club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Pat O’Neill on the sudden death of his father recently. May he rest in peace.

 

 

Change to Drop Off arrangements

Many will now have noticed the new arrangements on the protected fairways. Members and visitors should note that you must drop off the fairways 2,7 and 9 at the nearest point of relief as this has now been designated ground under repair. Under a local rule all golf balls in the areas identified must be lifted and dropped without penalty. It is no longer permitted to use the putter inside the areas identified.

 

Placing

All members and visitors should note that six inch placing on all fairways only is in operation at Portsalon Golf Club.

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com

 

 

 

 Divot Bags

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
