SINGING star Imelda May prepared for her incredible TV appearance with Jools Holland on New Year’s Eve by spending a few days in Co Donegal.
The Mayhem singer spent Christmas week staying with her brother Brendan who has a holiday home just outside Ardara.
Our exclusive picture shows Imelda treating locals to a song in the Nesbitt Arms.
“I love it in County Donegal,” she told locals. “It’s great that I have a brother with a holiday home here. It’s like getting away from it all. It’s my first time here but I will definitely be back.”
The 37-year-old Dubliner was one of the star guests on Jools Holland’s annual New Year’ Eve musical spectacular ‘Hootenanny’.
“When she was here, Imelda visited a lot of the shops and spent time in both the Nesbitt Arms and The Corner House,” said Stephen McCahill.
“She treated us all to a few songs, on her own and with her parents. She seemed very relaxed and told everyone she loved it here. I think she enjoyed the fact that people just let her get on with her holiday and didn’t make a fuss over her.
“Everyone was very impressed by how down to earth she was, how warm and friendly, just like her parents.
“She said she’d be coming back and I wouldn’t be surprised if she became a regular visitor.”
