The club competition on Sunday the 15th was won by Jody McHugh 16 with an unbelievable score of 48 pts (4 over gross) over the Sandy Hills Links.
The runner up was young Matthew Coyle 19 with 41 pts. The gross winner was Pat Boyce 5 with 34 gross pts. Third place was Denis McBride 9 with 39 pts bot.
The front nine was won by Con Boyce 5 with 21 pts and the back nine was won by Denis Harkin 11 with 22 pts.
Congratulations to the Gaeltacht team who claimed 8.5 matches from 10 against Falcarragh on the Sandy Hills Links last Saturday the 14th.
The four ball better ball on the day was won by Pete McBride Snr & Mark Bradley with 41 pts. Runners up were Edward McGroddy & John Casey with 40 pts bot.
Third place was Sean Boyce & Seamus Connor with 40 pts. Rosapenna now have 51 points from a possible 60 after three games.
The next match is scheduled for Saturday the 4th of February at home against Gweedore GC.
The 2012 Ladies & Gents Captains Drive In will take place on the Sandy Hills Links on Saturday the 11th of February.
There is an entry sheet posted in the members room of the Pavilion and anyone who wishes to play on the day must put their name and contact number on this sheet before Friday the 10th at 6.00pm sharp.
There will then be an open draw for a mixed four ball scramble over the Sandy Hills Links.
Registration on the day will take place upstairs from 9.45am with Tea/Coffee served.
The official Lady & Gents Drive In will take place from the 1st tee at 11.00am and then all players will go to the assigned tees for a shotgun start at 11.30am.
The entry fee will be 15e per player to include a meal after the round in the Golf Pavilion.
The following rule is in play on the Sandy Hills Links until further notice: If your golf ball lands on the fairway you must lift it and place it in the semi rough on either side. A ball in the semi-rough or rough must be played as it lies. Only a putter may be used on the fairway.
All members are kindly asked to keep all pull trolleys, electric trolleys and drive buggies well back from the roped off putting green surrounds and all teeing areas on the Sandy Hills Links as we try to protect the main playing surfaces as much as possible over the winter months.
All players are asked to play from the mats provided on the Par 3’s and not from the turf teeing area directly behind the mats. All of the clearly marked areas on holes 1, 8, 9 and 13 that are currently under construction are ground under repair.
There will be a closed club competition this Sun the 22nd, Sun 29th of Jan & Sun 5th Feb. The North-West Alliance visits the Sandy Hills Links at Rosapenna on Saturday the 18th of February.
The Mevagh Day Centre Fund Raising Golf Classic will take place over the Sandy Hills Links on Saturday the 25th of February. There will be a fund raising Golf Classic for the Downing’s Tidy Towns Committee over the Sandy Hills Links on Saturday the 10th of March.
All closed club competitions on both links at Rosapenna are played from the Blue Markers unless cleary stated otherwise. PGA Professional Noel Callan is available for lessons at the Rosapenna Practice Ground by appointment, all enquires can be made by contacting Noel directly on 0044 7789 157654.
