January 20, 2012

A mother of five has been fined €500 after being caught trying to sell counterfeit CDs at a Donegal market.

Donna Coyle was caught with more than 640 fake CDs at Lifford Sunday Market.

Solicitor Donagh Cleary told Letterkenny District Court that his client had been in a relationship with a man whom was involved in the illegal copying of CDs.

The relationship finished but she had all these CDs which she decided to sell.

The court heard that Ms Coyle, from Strabane, was now making buns and pastries to sell to local shops to make a living.

Judge Paul Kelly said the public constantly hear through the media about how much money is being lost because of such illegal counterfeiting practices.

He fined Ms Coyle €500 which had been a previous bail bond when she had been arrested.
