MAN SENT FOR TRIAL FOLLOWING GARDA STABBING OUTSIDE NIGHTCLUB

A man has been sent forward for trial after an attack in which a Garda was stabbed and three nightclub bouncer injured in Letterkenny.

John Boyle appeared at Letterkenny District Court and was sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court on January 31st.

Boyle, of 14 Leck Cottages, Letterkenny faces seven charges including five cases of assault causing harm, making threats to kill and producing an article in the course of a dispute.

Boyle, 46, was released on bail by Judge Paul Kelly after he was served with a book of evidence by Detective Garda Bosco Gallagher.

The case follows an incident on August 14th last outside Voodoo Nightclub at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.

The Garda Sergeant and a bouncer were both hospitalised but have made full recoveries.
