If you run a business employing less than 50 people in Donegal you now have a great chance to raise your profile.
Nominations have just opened for this year’s Enterprising Donegal Business Awards and businesses across the county are being encouraged to submit an entry.
Organised by the Donegal County Enterprise Board, the Awards are recognised as the most prestigious business awards in the County, and they generate huge publicity and business opportunities for the winning companies.
Previous award winners include The Swilly Group, Gartan Technologies, DS Environmental Services and North West Aluminium.
“The awards acknowledge the talent and determination of small businesses in the county. Despite the recent and current tough economic conditions, local businesses are continuing to succeed and innovate. The awards are a great way for any business to publicise their services or products, to give recognition to all those involved in the business and to celebrate our local enterprise culture in Donegal” says Michael Tunney, Chief Executive, Donegal County Enterprise Board.
The County Enterprise Board supports enterprise and entrepreneurs across Donegal, providing services such as business advice, mentoring, business information, training and finance.
The awards were started by the Board in 1997 as a way to highlight success stories among small businesses in Donegal and to inspire other individuals and local companies to establish new businesses in the county.
The awards are aimed at small and micro businesses in Donegal and there are a number of award categories including innovation, business growth and business achievement, as well as the overall business of the year award.
The winner of the business of the year award for 2011 was the Swilly Group, Irelands leading driver training, consulting and general training service provider. “Winning the award was a positive endorsement and vindication of our work over the years and of our plans for expansion. The award was major boost for all of us involved in the business” said Brian Sweeney, MD Swilly Group.
