DONEGAL COUPLE HOPING TO ‘BRING HOME THE BACON’ ON WINNING STREAK-Y!

A Donegal family are on the pig’s back and it’s all down to their new family pet.

The Coyles never had a minute’s luck before Glen the Pig arrived at their home in Newtowncunningham.

But all that has changed and now they are set to appear on tonight’s episode of RTE’s Winning Streak-y!

They have won everything from hampers to free gym memberships and they put it down to Glen, the pot-bellied pet pig’s arrival.

“Like all families things have been tight and they still are.

“But things are much better now that Glen has arrived. I even got a call last week to say I had won a six month gym membership and I hadn’t even entered a competition.

“My wife fell in love with him when she saw him at my brother’s Martin house and he told her to take the pig with her.

“Now we’re heading to Dublin for Winning Streak and things just couldn’t get better. Yep, we’re on the pig’s back,” laughed shower installer Gerry.

The family had planned to bring Glen to Dublin for the Winning Streak show but couldn’t get him to stay easy in a harness.

“He’s a lovely wee thing and we thought he might bring us even more luck if we brought him with us.

“But he went a bit mad when we tried to put a harness on him. Besides, I don’t think the people in RTE would be too happy to see a pig coming into the studio,” he said.

Gerry, wife Mary T and their six children Ciara, 15, Aine, 13, Erin, 11, Caoimhe, 7, Treasa, 6 and Seosaimh, 4, will all pile into a mini-bus and head to Dublin to “bring home the bacon” today.

Gerry said what ever they win will be a bonus but he plans to finish off his house.

“I would like to get the outside of the street done and we have plenty of bills to be paid.

“If we did really well then I would love to take all the kids to Disneyland.

“We’re just delighted that we have been given the chance,” he said.
