Captain’s Drive In at Portsalon Golf Club

Drive In

On Sunday 5th the Captain’s of Portsaklon Golf Club D P Logue & Noreen Mc Conigley will hold the traditional drive in. The event will be a team scramble competition with a shotgun start at 10.30 a.m sharp All names must be entered by 6 p.m on Saturday 4th February to enable the draw for teams and tees to be made. No names will be taken on the morning of the drive in. As in previous years the Portsalon Golf Club Captain D P Logue extends an invitation to the Captain members of Otway Golf Club to play in the drive in event. If on the morning of the drive in you are unable to attend please notify the clubhouse on 074 9159459 before 10 a.m.

 

Portsalon Winter Links

On Saturday last despite the poor weather conditions there was a good turnout for the Portsalon Winter Links competition. The results were as follows; in the net section Pat Greene playing off 11 was the winner with 38 points, runner up Tony Kingston (13) 36 points 3rd Barry Keeney (12) 36 points. In the gross section Stephen Connolly playing off 4 was the winner with 77 nett, runner up was Seamus Patton with 78 and 3rd Cptain DP Logue..

The CSS was 35 points.

 

 

Events

A busy few weeks ahead AT Portsalon golf club. On Saturday 4th February there is an 18 hole open gents stableford, and on Sunday 5th the Captain’s drive in, and on Wednesday 8th February an open 18 hole stableford event. On Saturday 4th The first tee is reserved for the North West Alliance. Sunday 5th the Captains drive in, Wednesday 8th a gents open competition, Saturday 11th an 18 hole gents open and Sunday 12th a members competition. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club, contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at www.portsalongolfclub.com

 

Gaeltacht League

After some matches were called off it is now back to business for Donal Callaghan and his Gaeltacht League team. Over the next few weeks Portsalon will travel to Dunfanaghy on Saturday 4th February, the next tee stop is Cloughaneeley golf club on Saturday 11th February, on Saturday 18th February home match against Rosapenna and Saturday 3rd March Portsalon travel away to Cruit Island . Following the two opening matches Portsalon have 35 points from 40 points.

 

 

 

 

 

Change to Drop Off arrangements

Members and visitors should note that you must drop off the fairways 2,7 and 9 at the nearest point of relief as this has now been designated ground under repair. Under a local rule all golf balls in the areas identified must be lifted and dropped without penalty. It is no longer permitted to use the putter inside the areas identified.

 

All members are kindly asked to keep all pull trolleys, electric trolleys and drive buggies outside the lines surrounding the putting greens. This is try to protect the main playing surfaces as much as possible over the next few weeks..

 

Placing

All members and visitors should note that six inch placing on all fairways only is in operation at Portsalon Golf Club.

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com

 

Divot Bags

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
