TWENTY per cent of households have delayed or missed paying bills in order to pay for basic goods and services, a CSO survey found today.

One in ten households delayed or missed loan repayments and a further one in ten delayed or missed paying their credit card bill.

The CSO survey found that cutbacks in Co Donegal – included in the West region statistics – were on a par with the national average.

It showed that more than half of households cut spending on groceries, while half also reduced spending on going out. Almost half spent less on holidays abroad.
