ST EUNAN’S CATHEDRAL PARISH NEWSLETTER



Sunday 19th February 2012 

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ Temperance Sunday

ASH WEDNESDAY ~ MASS TIMES
 8 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 5.45 pm and 7.30 pm

TROCAIRE BOXES are available at the back of the Cathedral.

CONFIRMATION
 Next Saturday, 25th February we will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Cathedral at 11 am for the girls of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal and at 3 pm for the boys of Scoil Cholmcille. Please remember in your prayers all the girls and boys, their parents, families, teachers and all who were involved in preparing them for this day. CONFESSIONS will take place on Tuesday 21st February at 8 pm for all Confirmation Children, their families and friends.



PRAYER FOR CONFIRMATION
 Creator Spirit, strengthen all children to be confirmed in the coming weeks with your gifts of grace, to love and serve as a disciple of Christ. Grant that they may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill them with the joy of your presence. Increase in them the fruit of your Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of love, patience and gentleness, the spirit of wonder and true holiness.

ST. PIUS X ADORATION CHAPEL
ST PIUS X ADORATION CHAPEL is situated to the left of the Cathedral, in the grounds of Loreto Convent, just beyond the Grotto of Our Lady. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed there day and night for silent Adoration from 7 pm on Sundays until 8.30 pm on Fridays. All are welcome to Adore during those times. Committed Adorers are needed especially for the night hours. If you would like to commit to Adoration on a particular hour, you may leave your name and contact number in the box inside the door of the Adoration Chapel or text 086-3074435.

The Raphoe Diocesan Pioneer Council are keeping with the aim of the Association, ‘the promotion of Sobriety and Temperance’ organising the ‘NO THANKS FOR LENT CAMPAIGN’. This is were a person makes a pledge to abstain from alcohol during Lent and say a special prayer, which will be available in Churches during Lent.

CLARU (ENROLMENT) for GAELSCOIL ADHAMHNAIN, GLEANN CEARRA for September 2012 will take place on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd February from 10 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring PPS number, Birth and Baptismal Certificates.

LETTERKENNY LYONS CLUB are organising a talk on Suicide Awareness and Prevention in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Monday 20th February from 7 pm to 10 pm.

LECTIO DIVINA on the Sunday Gospels of Lent will take place at St. Canice’s Oratory, Celtic Prayer Garden, Muff every Thursday morning during Lent beginning on Thursday 23rd February at 11.30 am. Light lunch available afterwards in IOSAS Centre. For more information call 9384866.

OPEN DAY in CARA HOUSE Family Resource Centre will take place on Thursday 23rd February from 10 am to 4 pm. The Marie Keating information mobile unit will also be at Cara House from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm.

ST. JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS SOCIETY monthly meeting will take place on Friday 24th February at 8 pm in the Pastoral Centre, Letterkenny. All are welcome.

Donegal Hospice invites you to Leslie Matthews’s big fundraising ‘LEAP YEAR CONCERT’ in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Wednesday 29th February at 8 pm. Guests will include Bernie & Patricia Maguire (Mother and Daughter), 12 year old Simon Peters, the Dancing Girls from Claudy and special guest Billy McFarland. PLANTATION TO PARTITION is an exciting PEACE III Programme which will examine how key historical events have shaped our cultural identities and our shared heritage.
