GALLAGHER CLAN GATHERING SET FOR CO DONEGAL

THE Gallagher clan are planning to get together again – bringing hundreds of Gallaghers to Co Donegal in September next year.

In this piece for donegaldaily.com Niamh Ni Gallchobhair explains the plans, with the first event next Friday in Letterkenny.

Le Niamh Ni Gallchobhair: In order to set the scene for the beginning of the run-in to the 2nd in 2013 we’ve decided to give people a chance to recall the 1st Gallagher Global Gathering in 2007. We plan to have a Gallagher evening in the Station House Hotel, Pearse Rd., Letterkenny, Co. Donegal on Friday the 9th March 2012 beginning at 7.00 p.m.to do just that and more.

We will show videos, photographs etc .of that particular week’s events including the section of the ABC News TV programme that concerns the Guinness World Record attempt in Letterkenny. This programme was shown coast to coast (to a potential audience of 200 million!!) a few months after our successful attempt. Did you, your family or friends appear prominently? Come and see.

We would appreciate if anyone who has other pieces of video and who would be willing to share it, would contact us ASAP. If anyone has fond memories of events that day or from throughout the following week’s events, that they are willing to share, please forward them by email to the address below.

We will also have live music and a bit of dancing and perhaps there might even be a cup of tea and a biscuit. Of course if you are hungry or thirsty for more we’re sure that Brian Gallagher and his staff in the hotel will not see you go hungry or thirsty for long (at a price of course!!!). If anyone has other ideas please let us know via our email address below.

During the evening we will also review what has been happening since 2007 and holding a very short AGM of the Gallagher Clan to set it up for the following year. If anyone would like to get involved at any level they are more than welcome to let us know beforehand or on the evening….in fact at anytime.

As with all the other events that were held since the first in 2006 (hadn’t I a lot more hair then!!!), we hope those who attend will have a great night of fun, frolics and friendship, though it will also be a night to remember those who attended events in 2007 and who are no longer with us.

I should say of course that this will be an evening for all Gallaghers and their friends and not alone for those who attended 2007. There will be plenty of fun and items of interest to all. So let you all come out and enjoy a great nights craic (and we don’t mean the powder version!!). That will set the trend for the next 20 months or so leading into September 2013. It’s your party so let’s have your ideas.

To add to it all those who attend will be entered into a draw for an original copy of the Guinness World Record certificate that was presented in 2007. This draw will take place on the night.

Email to postmaster@gallagherclan.org or text + 353 87 6680593 for further information or to help in any way.
