HARPS GO DOWN 2-1 DESPITE BRAVE SHOWING AGAINST FAVOURITES LIMERICK

Despite a brave performance Finn Harps went down to First Division favourites Limerick FC at Jackman Park tonight.

Limerick were 2-0 up and seemingly cruising at half-time but the Donegal side fought back bravely in the second half.

Boasting such names as Joe Gamble and Denis Behan, the young Harps were left shell-shocked when they went 2-0 after just 25 minutes through goals by Padraic Quinn and Rory Gaffney.

It looked like it could be a long night for travelling Harps fans as Limerick continued to carve out plenty of chances before the break.

Keith Cowan picked dup a knock just before half-time and there as shock when it was revealed a short time later that the player had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

Limerick restarted well but it was Harps who pegged a goal back on 57 minutes through Adam Clarke.

Limerick pressed again but Harps defence stood strong in front of the 820 fans who turned up for the game.

In the end it was Harps who went looking to snatch a draw and Limerick were happy to run the clock down.

Felix Healy and Peter Hutton will be happy with a spirited display from their young charges against a side who will be firm favourites to win the First Division.
