BREAKING NEWS: Donegal County Council gritters are on the roads across the county overnight as temperatures drop to freezing.

Council staff say the temperature has reached -3C in some inland areas and are warning of possible ice patches on many minor and rural roads by dawn.

However most of the county’s main routes have been gritted last night and will be gritted again later this morning.

Met Eireann says however that temperatures will rise to around 7C in Co Donegal later today.

It will be unsettled for the next few days – but will get milder by Thursday.

At this stage, Met Eireann says next weekend will be very mild and dry with temperatures up to 14C or 15C for Saturday – perfect conditions for the Cara Bundoran 10-mile run!
