Finn Harps claimed their first home points of the new season after a seven goal thriller against Mervue at Finn Park.

On a night when loyal servant an captain scored his 150th goal for the club, Harps made hard work of their victory despite leading 4-2 just two minutes after the restart.

Despite being down to ten men following James Casserly’s sending off, Harps were forced to hold on when Mervue grabbed a goal back to make it 4-3 with just under fifteen minutes left.

Played in front of more than 500 fans, Harps went ahead after just ten minutes through Adam Clarke.

Mervue leveled matters through Molloy but McHugh put Harps ahead again from the penalty spot .

Merue kept plugging away and were all square again when Nkololo latched onto a Molloy cross after 33 minutes.

When McHugh and Thomas McGonagle grabbed another brace it looked like Harps were cruising to victory.

But there were some nervous last moments when Jason Molloy pounced again on 77 minutes.

Harps hung on and Peter Hutton will be delighted and hopeful of building on his team’s points tally.
