RED BULL GIVES OUR SEAMUS WINGS!

A Buncrana man is flying after winning his college’s heat of the Red Bull Paper Wings competition.

Seamus ‘Red Arrows’ Benson threw a paper airplane a staggering 21.7 metres to claim first place in the University of Ulster’s heat at Magee Campus recently.

Now 33 year old Seamus is on his way to University College Dublin to compete in the All Ireland Finals in a couple of weeks time.

Seamus, a mature student of sociology and community development (we kid you not!!) said he could not have achieved his goal without the support of his family and friends!

“I feel so proud and all the training has paid off. I was blessed with a large right arm and I have been doing a lot of practice lately,” he said.

Some might laugh at Seamus’ achievement but he stands to travel to Strasbourg Airport in a few weeks time if he wins the national title.

“I feel I have a much longer throw in me. I was down the pub during the week building up my arm lifting pints of Carlsberg.

“If I do another few of those sessions, I’ll be ready,” he said.

Donegaldaily will keep you informed of Seamus’ progress.

Truly an athlete among athletes!
