PORTSALON GOLF CLUB NOTES

Busy St Partick’s weekend Ahead

On Saturday 17th March Portsalon Golf Club will stage an open team of four classic any combination, Sunday 18th members competition and Monday 19th there is a gents open competition, on Wednesday 21st a gents competition. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club, contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at www.portsalongolfclub.com

 

 

Match Play

Time is running out if you have not already entered this seasons singles match play event at Portsalon Golf Club. In order to be in a position to win this amazing prize of free subscription for 2013 all you have to do is enter your name pay the entry fee of €15 and await the draw.. Remember no entry fee no entry. The main prize will be dependent on numbers entering the competition.

 

Results

On Saturday last the Portsalon Winter links competition was staged and the results were as follows; in the Nett section the winner was Conor Connolly (4) 35 points B.O.T

Runner Up: Bryan Margey (8) 35 points, Third: Chuck McTaggart (13) 35 points In the gross section the winner was John G McBride (scr) 29 points B.O.T Runner Up: Stephen Connolly (5) 29 points Third: D P Logue (5) 28 points The CSS was CSS: 35 points. The winner of the Wednesday open was Paul Shields (7) 36 points, runner up Seamus Patton (5) 35 points, 3rd Daniel Shields (14) 34 points. The CSS was 35 points. The winner of the members competition played on Sunday was A Mc Alary (15) 39 points, runner up Michael Bowe (25) 38 points, Gross Pascal Cullen (6) 31 points 3rd Paddy Mc Groarty (19) 38 points. The CSS was 37 points.

 

Gaeltacht League

Portsalon’s remaining matches are scheduled for Cruit Island 25th March , Dunfanaghy 31st March at 8.30 a.m and Cloughaneeley 14th April. All matches must be completed by Sunday 21st April which is the Captains Day and this will be played at Nairn Portnoo golf course

 

 

Subscriptions

The council wish to remind all members that their fees for the 2012 golfing year are now due. An early payment would be appreciated.

 

 

Change to Drop Off arrangements

Members and visitors should note that you must drop off the fairways 2,7 and 9 at the nearest point of relief as this has now been designated ground under repair. Under a local rule all golf balls in the areas identified must be lifted and dropped without penalty. It is no longer permitted to use the putter inside the areas identified.

 

All members are kindly asked to keep all pull trolleys, electric trolleys and drive buggies outside the lines surrounding the putting greens. This is try to protect the main playing surfaces as much as possible over the next few weeks..

 

Placing

All members and visitors should note that six inch placing on all fairways only is in operation at Portsalon Golf Club.

Members and visitors to Portsalon Golf Club should note that on line booking is now available for all competitions at Portsalon at the flick of a button go to portsalongolfclub.com

 

Divot Bags

Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box. Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
