The men of West Donegal are bracing themselves for an influx of women to the town of Dungloe this weekend.

The town is this weekend to play host to a Women’s Weekend.

The weekend, now in its second year, is the brainchild of local women who got together last year and decided to organise a weekend of events aimed at women.

The weekend was a roaring success and amid rave reviews, continuing on from a successful maiden year, they have decided to continue on with the weekend on an annual basis.

This year the weekend takes place over the Easter Weekend with journalist and civil rights campaigner Nell McCafferty kicking of proceeding at the official opening on Friday Night in Ionad Teampaill Chróine.

The weekend will see a series of events aimed at women including a day of workshops on Saturday on Womens health issues, Reiki, Nail Art, Angel Card Reading, Reflexology amongst a few. Saturday Night will see the town transformed into Nashville, when the town plays host to the Balor Theatre’s show ‘A Night at the Grand Ole Opry’, with Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash amid others making an appearance.

Easter Sunday will see the traditional band competition in the town. The weekend will wrap up on Bank Holiday Monday with a Women’s 5k taking in the town with participants invited to walk, jog, or run.

More information on the weekend can be obtained by calling Ionad Teampaill Chróine on 074 95 22198, logging onto www.dungloe.info , or you can find Ionad Teampaill Chróine Dungloe on facebook for regular updates.
