Week ending Friday 13th April 2012
MARIE KEATING FOUNDATION
On Thursday 19th April the Family Resource Centre in conjunction with Donegal Local Development Company is again hosting the Marie Keating Foundation Mobile Unit, which will be located in The Diamond, Raphoe from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The Family Resource Centre would like to take this opportunity to thank Margaret Doherty, Project Officer with DLDC for her kind support and co-operation.
The Marie Keating Foundation aims to increase awareness and knowledge of cancer and related issues to all sectors of the community. The Unit is equipped with take home information leaflets on each of the key cancers and the nurse provides practical advice on healthy lifestyle choices. The Family Resource would encourage the local community to visit the Mobile Unit to become more informed about early detection and self awareness techniques.

RAPHOE TIDY TOWNS APPEAL 2012
The National Tidy Town Application for Raphoe has arrived and as in past years the Tidy Towns are seeking your great help and support as always. In recent weeks the Tidy Towns community employment scheme workers have collected over 124 bags of litter from 7 of our approach roads with a number still to do for Spring Clean 2012. You can help us this year again by keeping your properties/businesses and gardens to a good and tidy standard, donate paint, shrubs or flowers, tidy derelict properties, put out window boxes or hanging baskets & keep your area litter free.
If you intend painting please consider doing so during April and May. The success of Tidy Towns each year is community effort by all in Raphoe from children right through to our seniors which is very much appreciated. If you can help us in any way it will be very much appreciated. Special thanks to FAS DSP, Donegal Co Council, RCIA Ltd The Volt House, all local Schools, businesses, Churches, & our entire community for their ongoing support over many years. If you can help this year by way of financial sponsorship it would be a great help. Further information on Tidy Towns activities please contact the office on 9145692 email raphoetidy@eircom.net or call in to the Office at the Volt House.
