JENNINGS STAKES HER CLAIM TO OLYMPIC PLACE WITH SUPERB MARATHON RUN

It looks like Donegal has another athlete going to the Olympics in London this summer.

Letterkenny’s Catriona Jennings has just recorded a time of 2.36.14 for the Rotterdam marathon.

The well-known athlete, from Hawthorn Heights, was running in just her second marathon.

The time is well inside the qualifying time of 2.37 for the Olympic Games.

However the news may pose a dilemma for another Donegal athlete, Maria McCambridge, who also recently qualified for London.

Maria’s time was outside of Sinead’s unofficial time today.

It is believed the Irish Olympic Committee are to meet to discuss their selection in the coming weeks.

They will take a number of factors into account including times, recent performances and medical history.

As it stands both Donegal athletes have made the qualifying time.
