RESULTS: SECOND RACE IN TIR NA nÓG SERIES

The second of the Tir na nÓg Road Race series took place on Sunday morning, April 21st over the picturesque Cashelnagore railway 5 mile loop. The Course started and finished at Teach Rúairi in Baltoney with the course extending over local scenery of Muckish, Errigal and the Sea. it made for a perfect Sunday morning outting.

 

The Course which  was challenging proved an interesting change to the 5km runs which also form part of the series. The overall winner was Loughanure man Micheal Logue, who was home in a time of 31.20. Second and third overall were Derry’s Oran Doherty in 31.42 with local man Seimi Ferry completing the course in a very strong 32 mins. The First three Senior Women home were Termon Lady Nicola Doherty in an impressive 35.48, with Gaoth Dobhair’s Noreen Mc Gee in second in 37.36 and local women Eibhlin Boyle in third place in 43.48.

 

Other notable performances included, Magheroarty lad Ryan Lafferty winning the Junior men’s event in an excellent 33.30. It was also great to see Falcarragh man Pat Ban Gallagher returning from injury to post an excellent 33.16 and finish 3rd in the Over 40 mens category.

 

The Tir na nÓg Race Series continues with the next event due to take place on Sunday May 13th at 11am. Registrations at the Centre in Gortahork from 9.30am – All welcome.. These events aim to provide a fun type opportunity for athletes and walkers to improve their fitness and access form though the period… Further information from the Centre at 074 91 62972 or find us on Facebook.
