MILFORD 5K TO SUPPORT OLYMPIC CHALLENGER BRENDAN BOYCE – STAR TO COMPETE IN WORLD CUP

UPDATED: Milford Community Games will hold a 5K fun run/walk and a kids one mile race in aid of Brendan Boyce’s Olympic journey tomorrow, Friday, April 27th at 7.30 pm – as news emerged of his inclusion in a World Cup squad.

Registration in the clubhouse at Moyle Park from 6.15 pm. Spot prizes for runners and walkers, with showers and refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards.

A native of Milford, Brendan qualified for the Olympics last September and in Slovakia last month he even beat that and set a new personal best of 3.57.33 – knocking 25 seconds off his last top finish for the 50km walk.

A member of the Letterkenny Athletic Club, he is in training for the summer Olympics.

Everyone is asked to come along tomorrow evening to give Brendan your support.

Boyce has been included on an elite Irish squad that competes in the Road Race Walk world cup in Saransk ,Russia May 12/13.

He competes over the 20k distance against athletes from 67 countries in an event that the host country Russia are expected to claim the majority of the podium spots ahead of the Olympic Games in London . Finn Valley’s Patsy Mc Gonagle manages the squad.
