Diocesan Pilgrimage
Due to the small numbers interested the diocesan pilgrimage due to take place on May 20th in Letterkenny is being revised and postponed.
Belarus Sisters
The sisters from convent of St. Elisabeth, Minsk, Belarus will be here on Tuesday 22nd May, after Mass in Acres and in the afternoon in St. Mary’s Hall, Kincasslagh.
Centre Fundraiser
There will be a disco held in O’Donnell’s Bar this Bank Holiday Saturday 5th May in aid of St. Columba’s Community Centre. €2 tickets are on sale with some valuable prizes. Please support this cause as the Centre is used for all types of events by all in our locality.
Scrap Monday
A “scrap Monday” will be held on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June at the upper factory on the railway road, Burtonport between 10am and 4pm. Check your shed or garage for metal, copper, steel, boilers, bicycles etc… No fridges or toys. Further information from 086 6086231, 086 8415467 or 085 1742559.
Heritage Walk
On Monday 7th May, from 3pm, the Burtonport Heritage Group will hold a Heritage Walk through the village of Burtonport. The walk will start and finish in the old Cope building in the Port, now our welcome centre.
The walk will include a guided talk through the new Heritage Wall in the centre, which covers the history of the Burtonport area from the earliest times – including a recently acquired image of the early 7th century Castleport Brooch, found in Cloughglass a hundred years ago.
The walk will take one and a half to two hours with a suggested voluntary contribution of €5 being made (children free), all proceeds to go to the costs of the Heritage Wall and future exhibitions. Visitors and walkers will also be able to enjoy the Art Exhibition, John Rafferty’s photographs and get a cup of tea, coffee at the Welcome Centre.
Summer Fair
The Parents Association of Scoil Mhuire Belcruit is holding a Summer Fair on Sunday 6th of May from 10.30 till 2pm in St. Mary’s Parochial Hall. There will be craft stalls, car boot stalls, games, children’s activities and refreshments will be available. There will be a children’s treasure hunt beginning at 11.00 am and we are delighted that Daniel O Donnell & Majella will make a special appearance at 12 noon. Entry is free for adults and E2 per child – which will give them access to Bouncy Castle, Treasure Hunt, Face painting and more.
Youth News: 10-12 Yrs one off events for May. Mystery Scavenger Hunt (teams of 3) 9th May, Art Contest: Make Your Mark (all materials supplied for participants) 16th May and Mini Olympic Sports 23rd May. There will be a meting in Kincasslagh Hall on Tuesday 8th May at 8.00 p.m. for parents of children starting in Naionra Cionn Caslagh on September 2012. There will be a meeting in Naionra Ailt an Chorrain on Tuesday 8th May at 7pm for parents of children starting in the Naionra in September.
Televised Mass of Preparation for IEC2012
This weekend marks the commencement of the final month of preparation for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress. In that connection the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Charles Brown, will celebrate mass live on RTE1 Television at 12 noon on Sunday 6th May. The congregation will be made up of members and volunteers of IEC2012 Music will be provided by the Palestrina Choir under the direction of Blanaid Murphy. Those who are sick or frail due to old age have an important place in the life of the Church and we are delighted that, through this celebration of Mass, they can be drawn into the final stage of preparations for the Congress.
