A Donegal county councillor has extended the hand of friendship to the family of dead Garda Gary McLoughlin – by inviting them to the Donegal International Rally.

Keen rally enthusiast Kieran Brogan made the comment as Donegal County Council gave the family of the late Buncrana Garda a special commemoration in his order at County House.

Garda McLoughlin was killed when he was rammed by a car being driven by convict Martin McDermott at Lisfannon, Burt in december 2009.

Cllr Brogan invited Gary’s brother Enda to compete in the rally in June after hearing he is a rally enthusiast.

A smiling Enda McLoughlin agreed to accept Cllr Brogan’s invitation to applause from all those present.

All councillors representing all political parties across Donegal were united in their tributes to the late Garda McLoughlin.
