UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES DROP FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH

Unemployment figures in Donegal have fallen for the fourth consecutive month.

The number of people signing on the dole in the county decreased by 204 people from March to April 2012.

There are currently 20,807 people signing on the Live Register as of April 2012, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

There has ben a fall of 4% with 853 less people signing on the register in the year since May 2011.

The biggest monthly drop was seen in Donegal Town with 54 less people signing on since March 2012.

All parts of the county saw numbers drop apart from Killybegs, where there are 46 more people signing on since March 2012.

The greatest yearly fall was seen in Buncrana, where there is 371 less people signing on since May 2011, equating to 7.65 percent.

The next biggest yearly fall was seen in Killybegs at 7.13 percent with Letterkenny at 4.13 percent.

Many of the drops are being put down to emigration and some small job creation.
