A Co Donegal village has been left stunned by the sudden death of a popular 13 year old schoolgirl.

Aimee-Lee Meehan  from Dromore, Mountcharles, took ill at her home and was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital just after 2am yesterday morning.

However Aimee died shortly after being admitted to hospital.

Gardai emphasised there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the young girls’s death.

They will investigate it however as is normal practice for the Coroner.

Aimee-Lee was a very popular pupil at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town where she joined last September.

A school awards ceremony due to take place this evening has been postponed as a mark of respect.

Aimee-Lee was the daughter of Padraic Meehan and Louise Martin and rand-daughter of Joseph and Bridie Meehan, Killybegs and Pat and Mary Martin, Mountcharles.

Removal is from her home on Saturday at 1.30pm going to St Mary’s Church, Killymard for 2.30pm Requiem Mass.

Burial afterwards in Killymard Cemetery.  Family flowers only, donations if desired to the Patient Comfort Fund at Letterkenny General Hospital.
