Donegal GFC Boston Vs Christophers
Donegal and Christophers began their championship campaign under blue
skies in Canton sunday afternoon. Both teams are no stranger to each
other having met in the first game of the championship last year as
well as the first round of the Pat O Brien cup this year. Christophers
started sharp with a point from Paudie Kenneally followed by a goal
chance that almost trickled into the net. It was the wake up call that
Donegal needed as they started to dominate the game. Christy Bell and
Brian White opened the charge with points coming from Ciaran Williams
and the veteran Kevin Curran. A well worked goal from Garbhan Friel
followed after a good ball from Brian Donnelly. White and Donnelly
(who made his debut for Donegal) pointed again. Within minutes White
scored Donegals second goal. Christophers battled back with scores
from Dan Kenneally and Eoin Gorham and were unlucky not to have a goal
as Paudie Kenneally`s chance just went wide of the post.
Again the second half Christophers started sharper with a great score
from Paddy Mainiry and mid fielder Shane Flanagan, however Brian White
settled Donegal nerves with a point from a free that could have easily
been a goal. Christophers fought back hard with some great scores from
the impressive Eoin Gorham and Shane Flanagan, but the Donegal team,
under new manager Barney Laverty, finished strongly to take the first
two points of the season.
