Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D. has been informed by Simon Coveney, T.D. Minister for Agriculture, Food & Marine that he has allocated a grant of E90,000 towards Port a Chruinn Pier on Gola Island.
The allocation goes towards repairs to existing structure, including re-building the end of the pier and providing overlay of the existing deck.
The allocation is to cover 75% of the entire cost of the project with the local authority, Donegal County Council providing the balance of E30,000, which is a total expenditure of E120,000 on this particular Pier.
Minister McGinley has welcomed this allocation and emphasised that Port a Chruinn Pier is a strategic landing point for the southern side of Gola Island and hopes that work will commence on the project shortly which has to be completed by the end of the year.
