LETTERKENNY AC’s Mark English has run a brilliant 1.45.77 in the Ifam meet in Belguim, a new Irish Junior Record.

The time is also the A standard for the World Juniors and European Championships & close to A Olympic Standard.

It also moves him to 5th in the all time list.

“I cannot emphasise enough how remarkable that run was,” said Olympic team manager Patsy McGonagle.

A year ago Mark set a new junior record for the 800m event – 1.47.09.

Today’s run knocked more than second off that.

Sarah Collins set a new junior national record 16.41.49 in Koblenz.
