RESULTS

Senior. Our Seniors and Reserves travelled to Killybegs on Sunday for a league match. Seniors started their match slowly and were 5 points down quickly. They clawed their back to been 0-08 0-05 down at half time. They started the second half brightly but failed to take their chances while Killybegs converted all theirs. Final score was Killybegs 0-16 Mac Cumhaills 0-09.

Reserves. Our reserves left this game behing them in Killybegs. Leading by 8 points at one stage Killybegs drew level with 5 mins to go. Mac Cumhaills were awarded a penalty but failed to convert it, Killybegs went up the pitch and scored the winning point. This was a very lacklustre 2nd half performance by Mac Cumhaills.

Under 14 Hurlers. Our 14’s hurlers played in the Shield Final in Buncrana last week. Playing Carndonnagh, it was a very tight match untill the last 5 mins,

when Mac Cumhaills pulled away. Well done to all the coaches and players on this brilliant result.

Under 10 Football. Round 1. Team A defeated St Eunans and lost narrowly to Glennfinn and LK Gaels. Team B beat Glenfinn and lost to LK Gaels

REUNION OF THE 1992 UNDER 21 COUNTY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS

Sat night saw the return of the 1992 Under 21 County Football champions to Mac Cumhaill Park. This team, managed by Brendan Dunleavy and Jim Kent and captained by Kevin Mc Cormack, took on a Mac Cumhaills Legend’s selection.

In front of a massive crowd, the first half was an exciting spectacle with many blowing off the cobwebs and returning to their former glory. It was commented by some that “form is temporary while class is permanent”. Half time saw the Legends hold a three point lead.

After some strong words from Brendan Dunleavy, the 92 boys came racing out of the blocks for the second half. Drawing level quickly and eventually pulling away from the legends. This game had everything from class scores to denied penalties. The final score was 1992 champs 3-12 Legends 2-09. Amis jubilant scenes Kevin Mc Cormack was presented with the cup by Brendan Dunnion.

The festivities continued in the clubhouse, with speeches made by the managers and club officials. Presentations were made to the players by John Bradley, chairman in 1992. Food and music topped off a brilliant nights craic.

Many thanks to all who helped out on the night ,and to the ladies who prepared the lovely food. Special mention must go to Gary Gallen, who has spent the last number of weeks organising the night, tracking down players etc. The night would not have been the success it was without him. Well done and thanks

DONEGAL V LOUTH
