DISGUSTING – HOW BEACH-GOERS LEFT ONE DONEGAL BEAUTY SPOT

This is the horrific mess left behind by beach-goers at Knockalla yesterday.

The mess included new expensive coolers and even bedding clothing as thousands hit Donegal’s coastline with the welcome summer sun.

The pillow cases had been stuffed with rubbish which included beer cans and food wrappers.

A bonfire had also been lit on the beach and glass had been scattered all around.

A Donegal Daily reader who came across the site said she was horrified by the state of the beach.

“We love Knockalla but Donegal has so many lovely beaches.

“I can’t understand how people could leave a place looking like this. Would they leave this mess in their front room?

“I went to the beach with my family and I was ashamed to say I was Irish if this is what people treat their country like,” she fumed.

The woman also revealed that nearby litter bins were also stuffed to overflowing and looked like they had not been emptied for days.

“But that’s not an excuse for the people who left this mess behind them.

“It would have been just as easy to take these bags of rubbish home with them or find a bin and dump it in it,” she said.
