Portsalon Golf Club

Donegal Links Classic

The Donegal Links Classic which is staged over three of Donegal’s most prestigious links golf courses Ballyliffen, Portsalon and Rosapenna golf courses tees off on Monday 4th June and continues through Tuesday and Wednesday. The Donegal Links Classic is one of the longest running team events in the golfing calendar year and is well worth a visit for anyone interested. The format as in previous years is a team of four (gents or ladies). There is a host of prizes on offer daily team and individual prizes on each of the course on a daily basis and the overall prizes for the three days golfing. Fixtures

On Saturday 2nd June the course is reserved for a team classic for Rathmullen Celtic FC. On Sunday it’s a members competition. On Monday 4th it’s a gents open competition . A time sheet is in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club, contact 074 91 59459 for your tee time or go online at www.portsalongolfclub.com

 

Results

The winner of the Wednesday open was past captain : Donal Callaghan (13) 38 points Runner Up: Aeneous Conaghan (23) 37 points, Gross: Cathal Canning (9) 26 points Third: Diarmaid Coll (16) 36 points BOT Visitors: Frank Mc Breartry (18) B&S 35 points. The CSS for home based players was 35 points and away players 34 points. On Saturday the winner of the open gents competition was Winner: David Deeney (16) 37 points BOT Runner Up: Andy Boland (13) 37 points Third: Donal Mc Cafferty (16) 33 points. The CSS was 34 points

 

Team News

On Sunday last Portsalon Golf Club was the venue for the GUI Junior Cup qualifier. Playing in ideal weather conditions as the sun blazed across the golden ‘’Banks’’. The top four teams were Portsalon, Donegal, Rosapenna and Letterkenny golf clubs. Portsalon will now play Donegal in the next round in Ballybofey while Rosapenna play Letterkenny at Portsalon. The Donegal League team will swing into action and will play our neighbours Otway golf club on Friday evening at Otway golf club. The Donegal minor league team advance to the next round following their return match in Redcastle during the week. The Ulster fourball team entertained Malone golf club on Saturday and came away victorious. The Pierce Purcell team were defeated in their play off match at Greencastle

 

 

 

 

 

Mixed Foursomes

The team captain of this season’s mixed foursomes has arranged competitions each Friday evening at 6.30.
