THRILL-seekers don’t have to go too far when you live in County Donegal.
This was the scene on Sunday as a school of dolphins came in to Teelin Bay…to play!
Our pictures were taken by Patrick McBrearty of the Sliabh Liag Hillwalking Club.
As the rest of the country dodged showers and downpours, we managed to retain some decent weather.
And it was as if the dolphins had come along to enjoy it all.
Local people certainly enjoyed it – boating enthusiasts taking to the water to do some dolpin-spotting.
And they didn’t have to wait too long as two of the dolphins swam in and out of waves, at one point going ahead of the boats.
“It was an incredible sight,” said Patrick. “I counted around six or seven adults and a few calves, they stayed in the bay longer than usual today, I believe they were feeding on salmon that was unable to swim upriver, as the water is low these days.
“It shows once again what Donegal has to offer people – locals and tourists,” he added.
The wonderful display comes just a few weeks after a school of dolphins entertained locals and tourists alike off Moville.
Dingle in Co Kerry turned just one of them into a multi-million euro industry. And Funghi’s been missing for years!
