Donegal Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has received confirmation from the Department of Social Protection that letters concerning the back to school clothing allowance will be issued this week.
The letters will be send to hundreds of households across Co Donegal informing them of their entitlement to the BSCFA and notifying them that payments will issue commencing 16 July.
Ó Domhnaill says it is important for anyone who does not receive an automated letter/payment to proceed with completing an application form.
“These forms are being processed from the centralised unit in the Department’s Office in Letterkenny.
“The rates of payment under the scheme are €150 for children between the age of 4 and 11 years and €250 for children between 12 and 22 years. To qualify for the BSCFA, the person must be in receipt of a qualifying Social Welfare payment, and they must satisfy a means test.”
A phone line is now operational to deal with queries on the scheme. The Lo-call number is 1890 662244. Application forms for the scheme are available from local Social Welfare Offices, via SMS by texting “Form BTSCFA” followed by your name and address to 51909 and online at www.welfare.ie
“I urge any family with children attending School or College and who feels they may satisfy the criteria to apply for the scheme,” said Senator O’Domhnaill.
