SHAY Given took part in a full training session in Poland today – ending speculation in the national media about his fitness.
In fact Shay also played for the first 11 in a practice match…and made a number of fine trademark saves.
“I have no doubt that he can play,” said manager Giovanni Trapattoni.
“When the whole squad is available, we have very good options.”
As fans continue to pour into Poznan for Sunday’s clash with Croatia, our national manager said he had told his players they would be playing for them.
He went on: “I told them they must be proud about our country and our people, because they’ve made a big sacrifice to make this trip. The players know this.
“Our country waits. Our supporters wait. It’s important we guarantee them total and complete commitment.”
