SHAY ONLY TRAINS AT 70% CAPACITY ANYWAY – BRADY

Liam Brady has dismissed rumours that Shay Given is not fit for tomorrow’s opening Euro 2012 game against Croatia because he is not taking part in full training sessions.

Brady knows the Lifford man personally having worked with as part of Trapatonni’s backroom staff.

And he says that Given only ever trains at a bout 70% capacity.

“Shay is like all goalkeepers – he isn’t big on training. He trains about 70% of the time because that’s all he needs to do as a ‘keeper,” he said.

The former Arsenal and Ireland legend says too much is being made of Shay’s alleged struggle to get fit for tomorrow night’s game.

“I really don’t think it’s an issue. I think Shay will play and even if he doesn’t, we have a very good number two in Kieran Westwood,” he said.
