IT’S BEING BILLED AS THE FIRST TRAIN to make a journey on the old Burtonport Railway Line since 1939…..
Well the festivities in the town this Friday will certainly look like one.
“The railway committee are organising a fundraising torchlight walk along the old railway path,” said Breege Ward.
“The walk will leave the community centre in Burtonport at 10.30 and will be led by none other than ..THOMAS THE TANK.
“A km or two into the walk as we head towards the bridge at Dungloe road station you can expect to be entertained with a song or two from the fantastic Glackin family.
“And if that wasn’t enough – We will finish up at McDaids bar where refreshments will be served around a midnight bonfire with BBQ, Ceol agus Craic being laid on by Mr McDaid himself in the form of a limbo dancing contest. The Glackin family will also be on hand to see us singing into the wee hours.”
So go along and enjoy the fun. It’s strictly over 18s only at the after party in McDaids. Registration of €5 per person will be collected from 10o clock at the community centre in Burtonport.
