Cllr Phonise Travers has been elected as the new Mayor of Ballyshannon.

It is the third time he has held the position.

Cllr Travers has pinpointed the issues of drugs as being top of his agenda.

He said he plans to set up a forum.

“There is no point in putting our heads in the sand on the issue – there is drugs in Ballyshannon.

“If we can save one person from the scourge of drugs then we have done a good job,” he said.
