TERMON-ATOR JOE THROWS DOWN THE 5K CHALLENGE

Termon GAA club chairman Joe McDaid has issued a unique (and brave!) challenge to all club members ahead of its 5K road race on July 12th.

Joe claims that he will beat any person that is over half his age.

McDaid claims he is 40 (no laughing now) meaning anyone over 20 and below 40 can challenge.

Eligible club members expected to take up the challenge include county panelist Michael Boyle as well as former county players Grainne McDaid, Paddy McDaid and Maureen O’Donnell.

Ineligible due to being underage are Geraldine McLaughlin, Petra McCafferty and Ryan McDaid.

The real threat is understood to come form Paddy McDaid who recently posted a 22.30 – a few seconds outside Joe’s 21.59 during his last 5K.

The gauntlet has been thrown down but Joe is still refusing to say what he will do if he is beaten.

However, there is talk that he will buy a round of drinks for all participants at the Lagoon.

Whatever the outcome Termon are hoping as many people can sign up on the night as possible.

It’s all in a good cause – the development of the underage teams at the club.
