GAA NEWS: NAOMH ULTAN CLUB NOTES

Royal Flush Draw results for the weekend of 1/07/2012 were 4, 8, 9 & 13. There was no winner, consolation prizes went to Eilish McNern, Ian Rodger & Stuart Cassidy. Next week’s draw takes place in McGuires and the jackpot now stands at a massive €4950.

The club are trying to put forward the idea of a day allocated for SDC Heart scans to take place in the clubhouse. It would be open to all club members and would cost in the region of €40 to €60. It will be put towards all adult players in the meantime but it any person from the parish is interested please do not hesitate to contact any club executive.

The clubs clothes bank is now situated in the grounds of the club and is now very easily accessed as it has been built into the the outer fencing of the grounds on the roadside.

The senior team had a busy weekend of football playing two games over the course of three evenings. First up was Robert Emmetts on Friday were the team lost out by a single point after a very tight game on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-9. Scorers were Alan Lyons (1-2), Dermot Gallier (0-4, 1F), Cian Kennedy (0-2, 2F) & Aiden Duddy (0-1). Both teams were then in action on Sunday afternoon away to Naomh Colmcille. In the Reserve game, after trailing for most of the game, the team snatched a draw after some great fighting. Scores came from Adrian Nesbitt & Paul McGeoghan (1-0), Liam Kennedy & Ronan McCallig (0-2), Patrick White & Malachy Byrne (0-1). The Seniors had a fantastic win against an unbeaten Naomh Colmcille side in what was undoubtedly one of their best performances of the season. In a game which tallied over 32 scores the team held out in the end on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-15. Scorers were Adrian Nesbitt (2-0), Dermot Gallier (0-5, 1F), Colin McNicholas (1-1), Aiden Duddy (1-0, Penalty), Aaron Byrne (0-2), Cian Kennedy (0-2, 1F) & Joe Alvey (0-1).
