THIS is the incredible sight which has been greeting passengers aboard the Lough Swilly ferry in recent days – a pod of dolphins racing alongside on the crossing from Buncrana to Rathmullan.

And they might just hang around for the rest of the summer.

This picture was taken by staff from The Red Door Country House crew who were aboard the 1pm Lough Swilly ferry yesterday from Buncrana and were entertained by an amazing sight of three dolphins looking for a race to Rathmullan!

The skipper informed them that this is the first sighting this year and expects them to hang around for the Summer.

So, no need for a long trip to Dingle – just hop on the Lough Swilly ferry at Buncrana or Rathmullan pier….for onboard entertainment you just can’t buy.

* With thanks to the Red Door for the snaps.
