Letterkenny Credit Union has advised its hundreds of customers to ensure there is enough money in their accounts to cover pending direct debits.

The credit union is one of a number of institutions across Donegal whose electronic payments are processed by Ulster Bank.

Because of the ongoing computer chaos within Ulster Bank, there is now a backlog of electronic payments going into Letterkenny Credit Union.

However the financial institution has assured customers they will NOT be charged for late payment fees.

Letterkenny Credit Union has also stated that if members feel they have incurred additional charges because of Ulster Bank delays, they will assist members.

They have contacted members by text today thanking members for their patience and stating they are awaiting the receipt of standing orders.

Manager Gordon Randles told Donegaldaily that the situation has been a headache for members.

However he said he hoped the debacle was now coming to an end and praised their relationship with Ulster Bank.

“If anybody has any issues with whatever aspect of payment or any situation then we are here to help.

“It has been a headache for our members but Ulster Bank are hopefully getting it sorted now.

“I have to say that Ulster Bank on a local level have always been exemplary in any dealings we have had with them,” he stressed.
